PRIME MINISTER DAHAL SWORN IN PDF Print E-mail
President Dr Ram Baran Yadav administered the oath of office  and secrecy to the newly elected Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal amidst a special function at the president's office Shital Niwas today.
Prime Minister Dahal had put on western style suit while taking the oath. This is the first time that a Nepali prime minister has put on suit while taking suit. In the past, they used to wear Nepali national dress, Daura Suruwal and Bhadgaunle cap.
No any official could enter the royal palace without wearing formal Nepali dress during the King's rule.  This is the first time in the history of Nepal that an elected president administered the oath of office and secrecy to the elected prime minister of Nepal.
Both Yadav and Dahal are the first president and prime minister of the federal democratic republic Nepal. This is also the first time in the history of Nepal that Indian leaders atteded the oath taking ceremony. A delegation of Indian leaders led by Sharad Yadav is in Kathmandu to attend the historic oath taking ceremony held for the first time outside the alace. Chairman of the CA Subhash Chandra Nemwang, officials and diplomats were present at the function.
Earlier, it was reported that the council of ministers would also be announced with the oath takg ceremony, however, it could not be so due to the differences over the allocation of portfolio among the coalition partners.
MJF has been demanding the deputy prime minister, foreign affairs  and water resources ministries portfolio while UML is saying it should get  6 including Home and Local Development ministries.

In a statement issued here today, the Forum has said that freedom and democratic rights of the people would not be crushed under Dahal's leadership.
Forum has also demanded the return of seized property, control unruly activities of YCL, provide reief to the people and continue the policy of consensus for the rapid economic development of the country. "Radical communism will not be accepted to any form in Nepal and the federal system should be based on geography not on the basis of castes," it said in the statement.
Meanwhile, School of Thought for New Nepal, Reading, UK has also congratulated Prime Minister Dahal. In a statement issued by its coordinator Hari Timalsina has wished for the success of the new government led by Dahal. Read the statement:
